
Lemon Garlic Calamari with Aioli
Ingredients:
For the calamari:
1 lb (450 g) calamari rings (or whole, cleaned and sliced)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
Juice of 1 lemon
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
For the aioli:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
Prepare the aioli:
In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Refrigerate until serving.
Coat the calamari:
In a shallow bowl, mix flour, paprika, salt, and pepper. Dredge calamari rings in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
Cook the calamari:
Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add calamari and cook 2–3 minutes per side until golden and just cooked through. Remove from skillet.
Add garlic and lemon:
In the same skillet, sauté minced garlic for 30 seconds. Add lemon juice and toss the cooked calamari to coat.
Serve:
Transfer calamari to a serving plate, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve with the prepared aioli on the side. Enjoy immediately while crispy.
